Why use an Toggle Switch Boost / Preamp?
For the player who demands performance without altering their guitar’s aesthetics. The Toggle Switch Boost is an ultra-compact, true-bypass MOSFET preamp that delivers up to 20dB of clean, uncolored gain at the flick of a switch. By acting as an active buffer directly at the output, it preserves signal integrity over long cable runs and pushes tube amplifiers into natural, harmonic-rich saturation. It is the ultimate choice for minimalist rigs that require a professional-grade boost on demand.

Upgrade Your Tone with the Boffin FX Onboard Toggle Switch Boost
We are proud to introduce the newly updated version of the Boffin FX Electric Guitar Onboard Toggle Switch Boost.
This innovative Toggle Switch Boost puts powerful gain right at your fingertips. Consequently, you no longer need to stomp on an effects pedal or switch to your amplifier’s dirty channel. Instead, everything you need to supercharge your sound stays right on your guitar.
Powerful, Efficient Gain
To deliver its impressive performance, the Toggle Switch Boost utilizes an advanced MOSFET circuit. This high-quality technology efficiently provides up to 20 dB of clean gain using a standard 9V battery.
Furthermore, you can easily customize your sound. Adjusting the gain is as simple as turning a tiny trimpot located directly on the circuit board. A quick clockwise turn of the trimpot instantly increases the amount of boost, letting you dial in your perfect volume level.
Upgraded Design and Effortless Installation
Our latest version features pre-wired output jack harnesses and a 9V battery clip. Because of these upgrades, the installation process requires significantly less soldering. In fact, you only need to solder a single wire to get everything up and running!
Additionally, you never have to worry about your tone when the effect is off. The Toggle Switch Boost features a true bypass system, meaning it stays completely out of your signal path when you disengage the boost.

Booster & Preamp Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need the 250K or 500K model?
The choice depends on your pickups: use the 250K model for single-coil pickups to maintain correct impedance loading. Use the 500K model for humbuckers to ensure you retain high-end clarity and prevent signal “loading down.”
How much gain do these units provide?
Our onboard MOSFET preamps provide up to 20dB of clean, transparent gain. This provides enough headroom to push tube amplifiers into natural saturation without coloring your guitar’s original tonal character.
What is the difference between Push-Push and Push-Pull?
It is purely a matter of preference for operation. Push-Push operates like a click-switch (press to engage, press to release), while Push-Pull requires you to pull the knob shaft up to engage and push it back down to disengage.
Will this drain my battery quickly?
Our circuits are designed for high efficiency with an extremely low current draw. When properly installed with a stereo output jack to disconnect the battery when unplugged, a single 9V battery will last for hundreds of hours of playing time.
Can I adjust the boost level?
Yes. Every Boffin FX onboard booster features an internal adjustable trimpot. This allows you to set your “boosted” level exactly where you want it, ensuring a perfect volume match between your clean and boosted signals.
