**About the name**

Well, I was a reader of the UK tech blog The Register which used the cheeky British term [“boffin”](https://www.theregister.com/Tag/boffin)
 to describe scientists or experts. I would always get a chuckle out of it. But, it all came together when I had read an [interview](https://www.musicradar.com/news/jimmy-page-talks-about-roger-mayer-introducing-him-to-the-distortion-pedal)
 with Jimmy Page calling the effect pedal pioneer [Roger Mayer](https://www.roger-mayer.co.uk/)
 a “boffin.” Boffin FX it is.
